Competition: AIA Infinity Competition, Haynie's Corner, Evansville, 2014

Project Description Avantgarden Team: Esen Gökçe Özdamar (architect) AIA Infinity Competition Entry, Haynie's Corner, Evansville, 2014 Inspired by the random and playful atmosphere of the Artist District in Evansville, Avantgarden offers an open space for open art events and festivals and constructs its meaning depending on the random nature of art events it holds. The project is an avantgard art pool as a lowered basement, where any art enthusiast can intervene the open art pool him / herself by painting, dancing, music and realizing installation art. Avantgarden carries the image of a floating boat recalling the tragical river floods in Evansville’s history and resembles a space like a flow of water, connecting the area with a transitory art surface.
