The Solar Spin project is a landmark in using technology and the sustainability of life, pointing to a superior experience in nature and the man-made environment. It aims to transform Freshkills Park in New York into a new recreation area based on the interaction between man and nature within innovative and up-to-date energy systems. The project aims to build a natural space and provide a place in the park for perceivers and travelers to come together and think about nature. It was established for 0.385 decares of usage area and 50 decares of open air facilities. The design comprises circular wooden sculptures, wind turbines, a nature education center and a butterfly house built as a venue and providing a scenic route. The wooden sculptures use solar energy through thin solar films mounted on Konarka's facades and rotate according to the angle of the sun. The sculptures function as energy generators and can be entered as a platform to watch the scenery. The perceiver can enter the sculptures only according to their orientation towards the sun. Sculptures create visual stimuli for the perceivers in the park and neighborhood communities and become an area of interaction as an element of nature. The design enlivens the perceptual and creative concept of the viewer and strengthens their rational understanding to develop an inquiring and critical approach to the life cycle. This creates an action for the travelers in the park, hence contemplating and questioning the idea of existence, time and afterlife.
